Overview
The Women Count 2024 report is a flagship publication by The Pipeline, an organisation dedicated to advancing gender diversity in senior leadership. This 18-page report included detailed statistical information, updated footnotes with links, and refreshed imagery. The project’s timeline was exceptionally tight, with only one week to complete the redesign ahead of its scheduled media release.
The task required ensuring the report remained clean and modern despite the additional content and imagery, while adhering to The Pipeline’s brand guidelines. Close collaboration with the CEO, Director, and Programme Director was essential to maintain accuracy and achieve the desired results.
Process
Initial plan: To meet the tight deadline, I recommended maintaining the design framework of the Women Count 2023 report. This approach ensured continuity with previous publications and allowed us to focus on content updates and layout adjustments within the limited timeframe.
Execution
- Content integration: Updated statistical data, footnotes, and copy, ensuring accuracy and alignment with the provided information.
- Layout adjustments: Created new layouts where necessary to fit additional content, ensuring the overall design was clean, modern, and easy to navigate.
- Imagery sourcing: Sourced and incorporated fresh, relevant imagery to complement the updated content.
- Collaboration: Worked closely with The Pipeline team, providing regular updates to keep them informed and aligned throughout the process.
- Delivery: Worked extended hours, including weekends, to ensure the report was completed on time. Delivered final files in various formats, enabling the team to make future updates as required.
Outcome
The redesigned Women Count 2024 report was delivered on time and met all expectations. The report retained its clean and professional aesthetic while accommodating the increased volume of content.
The publication was shared widely across The Pipeline’s social media channels and referenced by major outlets such as Reuters, Financial Times, Consultancy UK, Daily Mail, and London Loves Business for its statistical insights on gender diversity in leadership.
Feedback
"Kim was extremely responsive and flexible on our project, working to a tight timeframe with unflappable calm. She also navigated very well a difficult line between creating consistency with previous designs, whilst at the same time refreshing the format. The end result was a report that was clear and easy to read, with a cleaner look and feel but that nonetheless did not stray from our brand and our previous collateral."
